People are moving back to Saskatchewan

There is lots of talk these days about how people are moving back to Saskatchewan. Job possibilities are increasing, property has been cheap compared to many other parts of the country, but now houses are getting more expensive and, in Esterhazy, harder to find.
Well, driving to Yorkton the other day, we encountered a house or two, or three on the road. Moving houses is a big thing here; I don't remember seeing houses being moved as much as here.
Why were these two houses pulled off the road?
Might have something to do with the other house that we had passed just before we met these two.
A Saskatchewan traffic jam!

Esterhazy Historical Park

The museum where I work is located in the Esterhazy Historical Park. The park occupies land formerly crossed over by the railway, which was dismantled several years ago. (Our house is on a street that used to be called Railway Ave., but has since changed to Park Avenue, in that it is across the street from the park. So these scenes are just a couple of blocks down the street from our house.

People talk about the big sky on the prairies.
(I love it when the clouds are interesting like this; makes me glad to be back on the prairies!)

The Esterhazy Flour Mill in the background, a provincial historic site in that it is rare, a mill with all wooden working parts.

The view of Main Street from the front of the Museum.

The Museum on the right, and the Potash Interpretive Centre (which opened last year) on the left.

All three buildings would be interesting for any visitor to Esterhazy to tour through.

Busy girl

Aleta, who is 15 months old today, keeps very busy with anything she sees or can think of doing. We foresee any number of future career possibilities:

A pilot?

Dishwasher?

Hairstylist, or the one who sweeps up the hair?

Official taste tester for Danone yogurt? (ah yes, she will perfect the art of eating with a spoon over time).

Another dinner in the field

Delayed addition of another dinner in the field on the long weekend in September, when Bev & Nestor were here.

Bailey thought the blankets in the centre were for him.

Aleta and Bailey going for a stroll in the field.

Aleta and Auntie Bev strolling in the field (where did Bailey go?)

While dining, we were sitting on a field where they had been growing feed barley, being combined in this photo.
This barley actually yielded some of the highest quality that the elevator had seen this year, so that was good.
