Almost 7 months
Everyone always says it about children, but Aleta is growing so quickly!
She will be 7 months old in 3 days, and is really developing a personality, and advancing physically as well. At her 6 month checkup a couple of weeks ago she was 20 lbs and 26.75 inches long. She is sitting up strongly, and getting ready to crawl. As a baby who is scoring high on the growth and height charts, she is a bit big and not quite mastered rolling over, but I understand bigger babies often just start crawling before they ever roll over.
(I wonder when that 14 pound boy born in Mexico this week will hit the same weight as Aleta. Holy cats, batman, I can’t imagine the pain!)
It seems like she’ll be walking soon. She likes to stand which sometimes makes it challenging to get her into a car seat or just sit her down!
Anyway, here are a few photos taken yesterday.

Eating is great, but ...
Aleta has been eating solid foods for a few weeks now; here are a couple of pictures from the first day she ate food. We had tried her on rice cereal back in early December, a food which most of the experts say is least allergenic and so is the best first food. But she threw it up. I was a little distressed, because I sometimes struggle with wheat and some other foods, but have never had problems with rice. I thought if I struggle with some of these foods, she might too, and now if rice was a problem too, I wasn't sure what we were going to do. But I realized a few things. First, the rice cereal I gave her had other additives, including a soy product, and that could have been a problem. Or she may not be ready to eat. Or maybe cereal was not the best thing to start her on, despite what most experts say. I found some websites that talk about how it’s better to start babies on foods like avocado or sweet potato or bananas. So I went with mother’s intuition and started her on vegetables, then fruits. Now she is eating at least oatmeal cereal with no problem, so I think we’re well on our way.
But? ... The bowl tastes great too, especially when teething!!
