Ailsa and Dale Leftwich

We should be charging rent

Friday morning, I was very excited because a couple of deer wandered into our yard in town. It was about 7:30, and the sun was up. It is really unusual for deer to be in town during the day. We have seen lots of tracks as they have been by to eat the rosehips on our front hedge, but here they were in daylight. So that was kind of cool.

Then the next day at about 11:00 in the morning, they came back and settled in. We went to the farm a half hour later, and they were still in the backyard. We came home at 5 and they were still there!

The next day they came back. When they're not chowing down on the spruce trees or whatever it is back there that they are eating, one of them sits facing the house and one of them sits facing the creek behind the yard. Consider this next picture a "Where's Waldo" exercise and see if you can find the deer.

Dale actually brought them some wheat from the farm and sprinkled it back there for them. Then of course they didn't show up that day, but today they came back and were there for several hours.

The snow has been melting fairly quickly last week but we still have a long way to go before it all disappears. So I don't think our tenants will be hanging out very much longer, but it's been fun to watch them.

Ah, life on the prairies.
